Not even firing up through your own shields (he’s a madman, a madman!) can save you from the tasty goodness that Naomi (our favorite cupcake maker) is slinging your way. Check out her yummy looking Space Invader cupcakes on her Flickr stream.

We’ve got the entire set pictured right after the jump. Check out the red UFO!

Stephen Colbert to Appear in Spider-Man Comics?!

Marvel recently announced that Stephen Colbert will be appearing in a new eight-page story featured in the upcoming issue of Amazing Spider-Man #573. Colbert’s character is a candidate for the U.S. Presidency in the Marvel Universe, and teams up with Spider-Man. Unbelievable.

This just might be enough to make me get into reading Spider-Man comics. I’ve never really been into your standard long running comics. Just too much story-line to catch up on. Sorry Dustin, please don’t kill me.

Visit Marvel’s official website for more information on the issue. They discuss the artists and writers involved in the project. Cool!

Mario’s Unfortunate Mistake

Found this image while playing around on Digg. Mario’s Mistake. Look at him, preparing to explain himself to Master Splinter. Why did he stomp on Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and poor, poor Donatello?

If anyone has any info on this image, let us know! I’d love to know the artist and order a print.

Sushi Cookies: Delicious, No Fish Aftertaste

Zoe Lukas, you’ve gone and done it again. First there was that outstanding sushi themed cake back in August, and now you’ve made these tasty looking sushi cookies.

Each cookie is hand painted on top of royal icing. I’m not sure what royal icing is, but you know what? I’m sure it is yummy.

And for all you Philly folk, did you see the recent City Paper cover? There’s a large picture of one of Zoe’s cakes on the cover. Congrats!

Papercraft: Super Mario Invincibility Stars

I think my favorite example of an invincibility status appears in the Sonic The Hedgehog games. When you score one of those invincible boxes, you leave a trail of glimmering sparkles in your wake. Alas, in Mario Bros you just sort of glow a bunch of different colors while playing silly music.

Thanks to the people on uChina, you can now combine both elements, the Mario Bros invincible stars and the Sonic The Hedgehog trails, by making a ton of stars. My plan? Hurl them behind me as I ran through Center City. You can’t touch me bitches, I’m invincible.

You can scope out the instructions on how to make the origami stars on uChina. The directions are in Spanish, but hey, you can get the gist of it just by looking at the photos.

Film Posters From Poland: Conceptual Masterpieces

Indiana Jones & Alien

You know, American film posters tend to have one outstanding problem. They look like horrible, photoshopped messes. Remember Dane Cook going crazy over the poster for My Best Friend’s Girl? Or the mess that was the Accidental Husband poster? And sure, both movies look like total rubbish, but they could have tried a little harder with the posters. (Note: Check out Photoshopped Disasters for more movie posters messes)

Now Poland… these people get it. And Well Medicated has a great list of 50 gorgeous Polish film posters for you to gawk at. It seems that a lot of the posters don’t say anything about the movie and well… who cares. They look like they belong in a museum.

Have a look, prepare to be amazed.

Origami Unicorn From Blade Runner: How to Make One

Let’s face it. We all want to be like Edward James Olmos. While serving as a captain of a Battlestar, he got to make out with Mary McDonald McDonnell. He was nominated for an Oscar in Stand & Deliver (‘how do I reeeach these keeeds’) and got to boss around Don Johnson on Miami Vice. All in all, he’s the man.

Well, now you can be just a little like Olmos, at least, like him in Blade Runner. Remember when he made that origami unicorn? Well, here are instructions, courtesy of Enveloop Online. Awesome.

Soon To Decorate My New Apartment: Tetris Bathroom Tiles

So I’m moving into a new apartment this week, and chances are, I’ll be taking Tim with me. Not to live, mind you, but to help me move in. He’s good at that. Hopefully, he’s also good at grouting and laying down bathroom tiles, because I am totally ordering these.

The Tetris Tiles are being produced by a (genius) company in Britain, and are made from Italian ceramics. Custom cut and made on demand, they’ll take a solid month to be delivered. I’m not complain though. This means Tim has plenty of time to work on his grouting skills.

Get to practicin’.

Modern Atari Classics: BioShock & More Get Atari 2600 Cover Art

First we saw some excellent Gameboy De-Makes, now we’ve got some hysterical (and extremely well done) Atari 2600 covers… featuring today’s modern video game masterpieces. Atari Modern Classics over on The Minusworld is a call back to a simple time, and the “basic beauty of the Atari 2600′s approach to package design.”

I’ve picked my two favorites up top. Go find your own. They’ve got ten different re-imagined carts to look at, including Portal, Halo 3, BioShock, and more.

For Alexis: Bambi Cupcakes

Aside from throwing awesome dance parties at Medusa here in Philly, my best bud Alexis Lerro loves collecting anything involving deer. Plushies, t-shirts, you name it. Well Lexie, this post is for you. Behold, Bambi cupcakes, by Andrea Canalino.

Check out some more photos in the gallery below.

Finally, an excuse to eat Bambi. Nomnomnomnom…

Friendly Parking Signs: Philly Could Use A Few Of These

If you’re from Philadelphia, or hell, any other state for that matter, you’re totally aware of the angry parking signs littering every street. Here in Philly, we happen to have an angry parking authority to accompany these signs. They’ve got their own television show, occasionally fail at following their own rules, and have been known to be rather heartless.

Don’t believe me? My pal Hughe over on Philly Chit Chat has a great photo montage of a Parking Authority guy ticketing a Free M&M Ice Cream truck… immediately after getting free ice cream. Ugh!

Well, The Glenn Group over in Reno City, Nevada through together a really cute guerrilla campaign to make the city feel a little more friendly. Placed under or near parking signs, their signs bring a little warmth to the city streets.

Let’s get these guys to come to Philadelphia. It’ll be fun.

I’ll Never Join the Dark Side of the Moon: Star Wars & Pink Floyd Wallpaper

I know Jeff from Used Wigs is probably going to jump all over me for this, but I’m not a big Pink Floyd fan. Sorry, I’m just not. However, I am a fan of Star Wars, and I certainly know the iconic imagery of Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon album, so this downloadable desktop wallpaper mashup scores an A+ with me.

Head on over to Neatorama to download the full size wall-paper by James Elliss. Good job James!
