Tyler Stout’s Robocop Screenprint

Tyler Stout's Robocop Screenprint
Wednesday (today), January 21st, at 3pm EST (12pm PST)
Tyler Stout will be putting this amazing poster up for sale on his online store.  This kickass Robocop poster measures 24″x36″, it will be $35 and only 60 of them will be available.  Did I mention that they’re also individually signed and numbered.  I’m also a fan of the blue metallic ink he used.

I, for one, am not about to pass this up.  It’s a steal, and this will look fantastic in the new living room.

Secret of Mana Magnets

secret-of-mana-magnets

The other day I called your attention to the awesome set of Chrono Trigger magnets. A heated debated followed within the comments of that post. Is Chrono Trigger really the best Super Nintendo game of all time? The answer is, of course, yes. However, Secret of Mana is definitely up there in my top three, along with Final Fantasy III.

Well now we’ve got Secret of Mana magnets, another great SNES RPG, from the same creator of that glorious Chrono Trigger set.

I’ve yet to download Secret of Mana on the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console. Anyone download it yet?

Favorite Gaming Moments: Recreated in MS Paint!

Some talented members of the NEOGAF message board decided to host a thread of their favorite moments in video gaming… redone and recreated using only Microsoft Paint.

Of course, a lot of these are what you’d expect, stick figures and awful looking scribbles… but some? Some are seriously amazing. I saved that Mega Man one as a desktop wallpaper.

Have a look. Prepare yourself to be impressed.

Ripley vs The Queen: Great Print

ripley-print

Remember the climatic scene in Aliens, where Ripley battles the final Alien queen using that giant robot? It always makes me think of that late 90′s cartoon show… the name escapes me at the moment… where people flew around in those exoskeleton robots? A serious high five to whoever remembers that for me.

Anyhow,Artist Monty Gog created this great custom print of Ripley fighting the alien queen during the aforementioned climax of Aliens, which is also my personal favorite in the Alien film series.

Word on the street, is Garrett from Filmadelphia’s favorite is Alien vs. Predator: Requiem. We won’t judge.

Take a look at the high rez image.

Shepard Fairey’s HOPE Original at the National Portrait Gallery

Shepard Fairey's original HOPE piece

Every single person who at least tossed a cursory glace at 2008′s election campaign knows this poster.

It’s likely the first image people remember when they think of Obama, because it was reproduced in so many different ways…ways that are traditionally reserved for rock bands and underground art.  This piece virtually spurred a micro-renaissance in political art, inspiring a completely separate and extremely valuable community of creative minds, unlocking the support of many that wouldn’t have cared otherwise.

On the day of Obama’s Inaguration, the National Portrait Gallery (operated by the Smithsonian) will display the original mixed media piece.  I find this to be such an amazing feat, considering Fairey’s roots wheat-pasting and stencil-spraying OBEY Andre the Giant images all over Los Angeles 20 years ago.  It’s even more remarkable that the Portrait Gallery normally only displays Presidential portraits at the end of their term.  Now, I wouldn’t know this for sure, but it seems like something that would be unprecedented… And that is really awesome.  Good work, Shep!

OMG Chrono Trigger Magnets!

chrono-trigger-magnets

Head over to Pixel Creations’ Etsy page to check out these wonderful looking Chrono Trigger magnets! You’ll get all seven characters for $20.

Chrono Trigger was easily the best game released on the Super Nintendo, and hands down one of the greatest games ever made. I’m thrilled that you can pick it up for the Nintendo DS, and that Playstation 2 users can always grab a copy of Final Fantasy Chronicles, but can we PLEASE get it on the Nintendo Wii’s Virtual Console? Seriously, I’m dying to play this on my television again.

Anyhow. Check out Robo and the rest of the gang after the jump.

Lunchtime is Watchmen-time?!

nec110531

A friend of mine sent me this link to toplessrobot.com which talked about the merchandising of the film adaptation of Alan Moore’s Watchmen. It would include, of all things,  lunchboxes. A link to the site selling these items showed that pretty much nothing is off limits — everything from Dr. Manhattan hats to “Who Watches The Watchmen?” keychains. I am pretty sure this is not winning over Alan Moore to support this film in any way.

Thanks to Andrew for the heads up!

Watchmen will be released March 6th.

Female Optimus Prime: Sexy Robotic Wallpaper

Hey Tim, check it out. It’s your dream woman.

You can download the full, high resolution wallpaper over on Tugen Wang’s Flickr page. I only wish the website wasn’t printed along the bottom of the wallpaper.

He has a bunch of other interesting desktop wallpapers as well, including this neat looking one of the Ninja Turtles. Be sure to skim through his Flickr to check out the rest of his illustration work. Definitely a talented guy.

Comic: The Geek of the Magi

It would appear that Tim and Eric have discovered the true meaning of Christmas. Maybe there is something to be learned from these two, although every time I hear these stories, I can’t help but laugh as I draw them. Here’s hoping Tim gets a cool replacement arm like Mega Man’s canon arm or one of those mechanical Star Wars limbs.

I hope everyone had a safe and fun holiday, and I hope to continue bringing these comics to you in the coming year. Have a great New Year everyone!

Hamster Propaganda Poster: Better, Faster, Stronger

Get off the wheel. Live your life. That is one outstanding slogan.

Artist Domnx has other great prints available on his Deviant Art page, including some featuring manatees and pandas. The 1849 date on this hamster print is driving me crazy though. What happened that year that has to do with hamsters? The first domesticated hamster, perhaps? Hm.

Take a look.

Papercraft: The Brave Little Toaster

Ah, The Brave Little Toaster. How I adored that movie as a kid, even though the junkyard scene with the singing cars gave me terrible nightmares. Oh, and remember when Chris decides to fix the Toaster, despite how beat up he is, and takes him to college with him? The tears… the tears just well up every time… I think… of…

*ahem*

Check out this awesome papercraft model, you can download the model for free via Goblin Paper. One thing is for sure, its a lot better then The Brave Little Toaster Goes to Mars. Seriously, what was with that? Worst sequel ever.

Pac-Man Ghosts Appear on Snow Covered Mailboxes

Love it!

Now if only we could get some snow in Philadelphia. I’ve been dying to make some classic Calvin & Hobbes snowmen in Rittenhouse Square.

Thanks to John Freeborn for the link.
