Hey you, it’s time to go.
At the time of writing this, we have over 19.4K followers on Twitter, 11.5K fans on Facebook, 527 followers on Instagram (probably should’ve gotten on the IG bandwagon earlier). We’ve published over 7,500 posts by over 100 authors. (However, Eric and Dan wrote most of those our posts, no joke.) The site has over 6.2 million lifetime views.
By now, you might’ve read goodbye letters from Mike Fenn, Neil Bardhan, Shelby Lordi, Michelle, Yali Perez, and yours truly. If you want to check out some of my favorite content in years past, be sure to read up on our Geeks of the Week. I want to take credit for really moving that feature along and my own contributions to that series are something I’m really proud of.
I’d like to take this time to direct you, our friends, to all the things still happening that we normally would’ve covered. Monica has already covered some of these in her final Geekend Picks and I’d like to give you a few more things to mull over. Bear with me, there’s so much going on with the city that this list will probably be fear from comprehensive. Let me know and I’ll be happy to update it.
Looking to be entranced and entertained? Seek out the local nerdlesque/burlesque scene. It’s booming. I made it a point to write the performance art on here even when no one else would. Franky Bradley’s currently hosts many of the shows.
Enjoy the acrobatics and fun-filled super lucha show of Philly’s very own CHIKARA Pro Wrestling!
Expand your brain and take your friends and family to the Franklin Institute, Penn Museum, Academy of Natural Sciences, Mütter Museum, Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum, Wagner Free Institute and of course, The Free Library of Philadelphia. Don’t just go to visit once or twice. Go to their events, follow their happenings.
Find yourself coworking and community at IndyHall.
You might be more familiar with Streets Dept as a street art blog. For more in the art world, Philadelphia is a world destination. Visit our Philadelphia Museum of Art or simply take in all of our murals thanks to the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. But really, you can’t go wrong visiting anything in the Parkway Museums District.
Did I make a huge oversight and skip something from this list? Let me know. I’ll update it.
But now…we’re going into deep cryostasis. Take care and be good to each other.
