In case you missed it, our pal Conrad Benner—the brilliant person behind Streets Dept—launched an accompanying podcast for his blog in October. It’s a bi-monthly (twice a month), one-on-one interview-style podcast in which he’ll be speaking to artists and creatives from around the world.
Old fans of Geekadelphia and the Philly Geek Awards might recall that we awarded Conrad with “Outstanding Achievement in Geek Culture Journalism” back in our 2011 inaugural awards. Six and a half years later, he’s still keeping up with the work that has garnered him an incredible following on Twitter and Instagram.
He’s featured many street artists on his site, so they’ll be featured guests on the podcast. But, he’ll also be speaking with poets, activists, politicians, small business owners and community organizers per his introductory episode.
According to Conrad, his podcast will serve two primary purposes: 1) to hear the voices of artists and creatives in their own words, more about their work, their motivations and how they see the world/want to change it 2) expand on the arts and creative world he’s already covering with his blog.
I’ve already listened to the first four episodes and he’s already doing an amazing job asking detailed and thought-provoking questions. If you’ve followed Streets Dept, give the podcast a listen. You can subscribe to the Streets Dept Podcast on iTunes, Google Play, SoundCloud and where ever else podcasts can be found.
