A new podcast is set to launch soon—and it has a Philadelphia connection.
Apocalypse…Now? will kick off its debut season on September 5. It is the brainchild of former Philadelphian and former Geekadelphia contributor Jo Anna Van Thuyne. One of the most appropriate podcasts for 2017, the subject matter will involve Van Thuyne and a rotating list of guest stars and friends discuss whether or not we are truly in the end times.
“I wake up every morning with a sense of dread. What national tragedy has befallen us today? Black is white. Up is down. Nothing makes sense anymore, so I keep asking myself…’Shit, is the world about to end?’” Van Thuyne writes on the podcast’s teaser trailer page, on the rising humor website bit comedy.co. Exemplifying her premise with everything from climate change to the alt right to the fact that Roseanne is coming back to TV, the podcast promises to be regularly filled with her trademark blend of humor and insight.
And just because Van Thuyne is currently living in New York City does not mean that she has forgotten her Philadelphia roots. One of her podcast’s first guests that will help shed some light on the state of today’s society will be none other than Rodney Anonymous of local punk bank Dead Milkmen.
