Welcome back to the most awesome comic book roundup around: The Comic Roundup! In honor of the release of Wonder Woman in theaters, this week I reviewed two recent Wonder Woman books that feature the popular character at her best. First up is a collection of stories that spotlight Wonder Woman in an amazing way in Wonder Woman Annual #1. Also, the trio of Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman come together to fight evil in Trinity Annual #1.
Wonder Woman Annual #1 (DC)
Greg Rucka / Nicola Scott / Vita Ayala, Michael Moreci / Collin Kelly / Jackson Lanzing / Romulo Fajardo Jr. / Claire Roe / Jordie Bellaire / Stephanie Hans / David Lafuente / John Rauch
Just in time for the much anticipated release of Wonder Woman, Greg Rucka and many others pens several interesting tales that celebrate the Amazonian goddess.
It’s hard to choose just one of the stories in this annual that have blown me away. Each one touches on different aspects of Wonder Woman’s history such as her first encounter with Batman and Superman.
So if you’re not currently on the Wonder Woman hype train, now is the perfect time to hop on board.
Trinity Annual #1 (DC)
Rob Williams / Guillem March, Tomeu Morey / Carlos Mangual
In Trinity Annual #1, we are given a fresh look at the dynamic trio as they interact with each other on a dinner date. Yes, that’s right. The three heroes get to know each other more at dinner courtesy of Bruce Wayne. It’s certainly a fun take on DC’s most popular heroes and a nice breather from all the action.
Don’t worry if you haven’t read the previous issue of Trinity. New readers can jump into this Annual without any troubles. But if you’re curious about the comics events thus far, there’s a neat little narration that helps fill in the blanks.
After reading Williams’ tale of three of DC’s most prominent heroes, you can’t help but to fall in love with them again. Trust me.
