Robots are taking over Philadelphia! No;not those CGI Michael Bay robots. (Do we still like those?) I’m talking about the amazing robots you’ll be able to see at the 7th Annual Philly Robotics Expo on May 30 at the Singh Nanotechnology Center from 9:00a.m-3:00p.m. Tickets to the workshops are all sold out but the expo is free and open to the public. The Philly Robotics Expo(PRX) is an educational and fun expo that features some amazing robotics being created locally. PRX hopes to inspire Philly students K-12 to enter the world of STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and Robotics. Through demonstrations, workshops, and interacting with experts in this field; students will see that robots/technology are reality and not science fiction.
This year Central High School’s RoboLancers and the GRASP Lab of the University of Pennsylvania will be hosting the PRX. Don’t worry about not beinf a science geek! The expo will have a variety of events for all ages including school aged children. Highlights will include FIRST robotics demonstrations from Jr. FLL, FLL, FTC, and FRC teams; tours of the GRASP Labs including Flying Robots, Humanoids, and “Upennalizers” Soccer Robots; and activities and demos from exhibitors. Both host will also be unveiling their newest advancements in robotics. Attendees will get to play with the robots as well! Think Big Hero 6 botfighting but with soccer and it not being illegal.
