One day you’re walking and the next a freak accident happens and you’re now disabled. Imagine how would you handle that situation? It’s not just a physical change but a financial change too. That is the reality for those with disabilities have to live with everyday.
Local group #techInColor has partnered with EvoXLabs to host a meetup event to help raise money to make assistive technology accessible to individuals with disabilities. On Tuesday, May 2 #techInColor presents Accessibility Hacks: Keeping Tech Inclusive for Everyone, at Benjamin’s Desk from 6:00-9:00p.m. take part in informative talks about the initiative to make tech accessible to everyone, while enjoying a comfortable atmosphere with food and drinks. The event is free but is asked to make a donation of $5 at the door. However you can RSVP on #techInColor’s Meetup page.
#techInColor and EvoXLabs have partnered up with a local hospital to purchase assistive technology for individuals with disabilities. This event will bring folks together to share strategies and tactics for ensuring tech is kept accessible for people with disabilities. There will also be lightning talks from members of #techInColor and other experts on an array of subjects like design, development, and keeping workplaces inclusive for individuals with varying levels of physical abilities. Besides the lightning talks, guest will be able to see demonstrations from technologist of their accessible technology. Accessibility Hacks will also be a great event to do networking while dining on delicious food from the Khyber Pass Pub and beers from Flying Fish Brewery.
