Batman #21 (DC)
Tom King / Jason Fabok / Brad Anderson / Deron Bennett
Since the Rebirth era began, fans have been clamoring for more answers, and now, in The Button Part One, we inch closer to finding out one of the most exciting secrets in DC history!
A simple investigation turned into a life or death situation for our favorite detective: Batman. After examining the Watchmen member Comedian’s button that was found in the Batcave, Batman finds himself battling against a foe who hasn’t been seen in the pages of DC Comics for ages. Okay, I should say this foe has been teased in the comics up until his full reveal in the pages of this issue. Nonetheless, it’s still interesting to see his return and what it means for the DC universe going forward.
Since its inception, DC has launched an ambitious quest to “Rebirth” the long-running comics giant. As with any other major DC event, the pieces to an ever-growing mystery have been set in motion for quite some time. Without spoiling anything, this issue is definitely worth the wait. While it is only the first part of the event, there’s enough here to still satisfy fans.
Ninjak #26 (Valiant)
Matt Kindt / Stephen Segovia / Ulises Arreola / Dave Sharpe
Another spectacular adventure closes for our heroic spy as he goes head-to-head with the insidious Master Darque in one final confrontation. But like Ninjak events of the past, this issue closes with as many questions as there are answers. Thankfully, Matt Kindt has such firm understanding of the character Ninjak that we can’t help but to be drawn in to his story.
Speaking of story, things move at such a fast pace in this issue. Just when you think you’re done with one mind-blowing revelation, a barrage of other revelations soon follow. But new fans don’t need to worry. Ninjak remains a comic anyone can jump into without having prior knowledge of the characters history.
If you’ve been following this story since the beginning, the conclusion alone will leave you eagerly anticipating what comes next for one of the best comics in Valiant’s impressive lineup.
