The Philadelphia comedy community is thriving. A wide variety of theaters, troupes, and individual talent flooded the scene in recent years and has brought about a renaissance that has left audiences in stitches. So what better way to celebrate and cultivate that growing community than with a festival? Enter: Philly Sketchfest 2017.
PSF 2017 will run from Wednesday, April 19 through Sunday, April 23 and events will be held at multiple venues across Philadelphia. The venues include PSF Roxy Theater, the Adrienne Theater Playground, the Ruba Club, and Underground Arts, with each location hosting a night of comedy acts; with the Adrienne Theater Playground playing double duty on Thursday and Friday nights.
The opening Wednesday night festivities include the PSF Film Festival. Videos were made by local and national sketch comedians. With over 20 films on tap, the tone for the rest of the week will be set by a diverse set of comedians. Tickets are still available for the opening night PSF Film Festival.
Showcases for the participating solo sketch comics and troupes will take place over the course of the rest of the week. Representing 10 different cities and 2 different countries; 3 groups from Canada have come to bring the funny to Philly Sketchfest 2017.
This year’s Philly Sketchfest aims to continue the growth of the Philadelphia comedy scene with an expanding lineup, additional venues, and most importantly, extremely funny people doing hilarious sketches on a stage for the audience’s amusement.
