Are you a geekadelphian looking to test the limits of your knowledge on the City of Brotherly Love? Then you better clear your calendar for Philly History Quizzo, later this week.
On Tuesday, October 18, local archivists from the Delaware Valley Archivists Group will gathering in Old City to share curated trivia ‘from the annals of our city’s past’, challenging participants to recall ‘people, places, and events that make Philadelphia unique’. The quizzo game is one of 20+ events lined up for Archives Month Philly, a local festival held in October, specifically celebrating and highlighting the important work of local archivists and the rich history of Philadelphia.
Philly History Quizzo will include four rounds: Two question rounds, an archival photograph round and a Philly history speed round. Following standard pub quiz structure, prizes go to the highest-scoring teams and the best team name. Prize sponsors include cultural community staples, including Bartram’s Garden, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, Hidden City Philadelphia, Ryerss Museum & Library and the Free Library of Philadelphia.
The event will be held at National Mechanics. Trivia starts at 6:30pm but it’s encouraged to arrive early and stake out a table. (Teams can have up to six members and there’s no cover charge to attend.)
