Philly Dev Night, Philadelphia’s favorite weekly Indie Game extravaganza, is hosting a tournament this week for those who wish to test their mettle. The arena of choice for this monumental battle of pure pixelated mayhem? The suitably insane game of Gang Beasts.
What is Gang Beasts you ask? Well I could try describing the hilariously unpredictable gelatinous carnage that up to four players can rain down on each other and the environment, but this trailer will do a far better job.
Oh, you want information? Gang Beasts come from the slightly demented but completely genius minds of Double Fine Games; the creators of such innovative and slightly bizarre games such as Psychonauts, Brutal Legend, Stacking, and Costume Quest. Gang Beasts is a similarly offbeat title that carries all of the charm, solid gameplay and fun party vibe that generates a degree of passion from those who sit down and play. Which makes it a perfect game for Philly Dev Night’s latest tournament.
The rules of the tournament are simple. The battles will be 1v1. Mano a Mano. Gelatinous blob of pure punching power vs…you get the idea. First place wins a custom engraved Gang Beasts beverage vessel! Sign ups will be held after Dev Night formally kicks off at 7 p.m. Philly Dev Night is currently hosted by G-Team eSports Internet Cafe, located at 1010 Cherry Street.
Get more information about Philly Dev Night on their Meetup page. Come for the gelatinous brawling mayhem, stay for the camaraderie and atmosphere. And the gelatinous brawling mayhem.
*There was a mistake in terms of giving credit to the studio that made Gang Beasts. The indie studio Boneloaf created Gang Beasts and was distributed by Double Fine.
