Time travel movies keep fascinating viewers. Filmmakers continue pumping them out. A local filmmaker has created just such a piece, and a Philly comedy show features her this week to talk about the movie.
Brittany Rafalak graduated in 2010 from University of the Arts with a film degree. Since her UArts days, she’s continued to work in the industry, picking up a Master of the Arts in Media Studies from The New School. More recently, she received a Small But Mighty Arts grant to support her creation. Her latest movie “Try Try Again” features Pilar, who wants to travel back in time to pursue a love interest. Rafalak recently posted a teaser video for Try Try Again on Vimeo, so you can get a sense of the movie for yourself.
Two Late with Rob and Joe, a monthly late night talk show at Philly Improv Theater, invited Rafalak and the cast to their July show this coming Friday evening to promote the film. For two years now the hosts Rob Alesiani and Joe Tuzzi consistently have brought local creatives and entrepreneurs onto their show to connect industries of Philadelphia in a fun format audiences enjoy. In addition to interviewing Rafalak, the writers promise they’ll bring the cast onto the stage.
The show also features recent Geekadelphia interviewees The Incredible Shrinking Matt and Jacquie performing their signature “best friend sketch comedy” act. Standup Chanel Ali, originally from Philly and who now is up in New York, rounds out the night as she jokes about current events and tells stories from her own life.
