For the younger ones, the Fishtown Community Branch of the Philadelphia Free Library is presenting an after school event. Star Wars Day Adventures, complete with crafts, games, and offers a chance to win a Sphero BB-8 droid. The fun begins at 4:15 p.m.
Frankford Hall’s Nerd Nite for May just happens to be on the fourth this year, and they’re playing to the theme with guest expert Paul Harrison. Joining him is former Geek of the Week, Ben Leach, presenting on Presidential Campaigns Through the Ages. Admission is $5
Standard Tap will be holding a Galactic Costume Pageant beginning at 6 p.m., with trivia and a costume contest. Entrants will compete for the grand prize, a Sphero BB-8 droid of their very own, though many prizes will be given out throughout the evening.
On Friday, May 6, the Trocadero will screen Jon Spira’s 2015 documentary Elstree 1976, a film about the making of the original Star Wars films as told by extras and minor characters. Tickets are $8 for the 21+ event and available here.
While the event is not technically on May 4, it’s worth noting that the tickets for Keswick Theater’s screening of the original Star Wars trilogy go on sale Wednesday here.
