A new talk series starts this month in Philly. The first 99U Local: Philadelphia event is on the evening of Monday, September 14th, at the Philadelphia Center for Architecture. This “casual, intimate event” brings selected talks from local influencers to talk about practically turning ideas into reality.
The first speakers are Conrad Benner of Streets Dept. fame, Danielle Cohn from Comcast and the StartupPHL program, and Dan Mall of SuperFriendly. Each will talk briefly, providing practical advice, before the event turns to drinks and networking. Attendees are encouraged to take a picture with organizer (and former Geek of the Week) Melissa Ivone in the Photobot 3000.
Ivone has been involved with Philly Startup Weekend and applied to 99U‘s Ambassador program. As part of her acceptance to this group, she attended the 99U Conference in New York this past April and met 99U Local organizers from around the globe. Ivone says she chose the inaugural speakers for their ability to make their ideas happen around Philadelphia, including Conrad Benner’s successful SEPTA247 campaign. When asked about what sets 99U apart from other similar talk series, she says “99U’s focus on the execution of inspiration makes it exponentially more worthwhile.”
