First Friday is right around the corner! Philadelphia always brings out its best and brightest in art and entertainment to entice folks to shake off their cabin fever, leave the comforts of their caves behind for an evening, and take in some new and perhaps unfamiliar sights. ‘Unfamiliar’ is definitely a word that can be used when it comes to Indy Hall’s First Friday offering in March. While art of all forms is always welcome in Indy Hall, sculpture is an uncommon sight there – it tends to take up a lot of space.
On March 7th, Philadelphia Sculture Gym will be filling Indy Hall with some of the best, brightest, and most innovative and provocative sculpture of recent years. The exhibition, called Presence, is headed by the Gym’s founder, Darla Jackson. Seven members of her coworking community are proud to showcase all of their latest works. From metal, wood, and mud, forged with hammer, blade, and fire, these imaginative minds and skilled hands have wrought some truly breathtaking visions. Seven artists working in three dimensions across two communitites – that is the essence of Presence.
If you want to take in some truly original work, and maybe help shape something far beyond a mere art exhibit, Indy Hall will be the place to be on Friday! The exhibition will be open from 5 pm until 9 pm, and admission is free. Indy Hall is located at 22 N 3rd St, between Arch and Market Streets. We hope to see you there for this unique event!
