If the recent weather has your offspring longing for summer and the beach, a day trip to the Academy of Natural Sciences could be the cure for their cabin fever. The recently reopened “Outside In” exhibition for children ages 3-8 promises all the joys of the great outdoors – a forest, a mountain pond, and of course an ocean shore. There are plenty of activities to give young explorers a good workout, like crawling through logs and panning for shark teeth. Live animals take turns to be investigated close up. If you are lucky (or unlucky, depending on your personal tolerance for ick), you could look a hissing cockroach in the eyes. And watching the live beehive will make summer look just a little bit closer.
We’re excited to have this exhibit back after being closed for a few weeks. We’ll be taking a trip to the all-new Outside In and hope to tell you more about it in the near future!
