Couldn’t get a reservation for two at Barbuzzo? Bored of conventional Valentine’s Day crap? Just looking for something fun to do?
Look no further than Hive76, the Center City community space for hackers, crafters, and lovers of DIY. This Sunday, Feb. 9 from 1-5 p.m., the space will host a geek-love design workshop where you can make something cool for your sweetheart…or yourself.
Learn how to make your own illuminated love note (pictured above) by crafting a paper circuit with copper tape, LED and a battery. You’ll also get a chance to tour the space, play around with different crafting supplies, and more:
“Make sweet gifts and learn about 3D printing and paper circuits at the same time. For the gamer in your life, there’s a Valentine Creeper. Got an inspirational do-gooder? Here’s a movie inspired MockingJay pin. Just want to show you care? Well, we’re working on a pixel heart necklace that is sure to please.”
The “Valentine Hackshop” is $10 at the door and includes supplies and snacks. Hive76 is usually a members only space, but guests can check it out thanks to a calendar of weekly events and classes. Planning on attending the workshop? Don’t forget to RSVP.
