Since it’s start at Indy Hall, Philly Give & Get has done much to help pair charitable minded professionals with people who want to learn and give back to the community in the process.
Part networking opportunity, part charity event, Philly Give & Get last year held their first “date” auction, which raised $6000 for the Philadelphia Center for Arts & Technology. Their work has netted founder Lansie Sylvia a selection as a 2013 Social Impact Fellow and the event itself a prestigious Philly Geek Award nomination for Event of the Year.
This year, Philly Give & Get has chosen the Scribe Video Center as the recipient of the monies raised from a MAKER themed charity auction.
The Scribe Video Center, founded in 1982, is all about making sure the next generation of film makers has the tools and support they need to make movies about their community. They provide the tech and the know-how to help creative minds make that first film from beginning to end and provide an outlet for creative people who otherwise might not have a chance to do so.
For this year’s event, Philly Give & Get is pairing with Generocity to present a MAKER edition auction, where people will be bidding on prizes that include a two hour class with a Philly expert in a particular field as well as one-of-a-kind activities that relate to their Maker’s area of expertise.
The auction will be taking place at Johnny Brenda’s on Thursday, October 10 toady so don’t miss out on a chance to help a great cause and gain some serious knowledge at the same time. It’s a charity event where literally everyone wins.
