BJ and I first met drinking Tecate and swapping stories at the sadly now-defunct Q BBQ and Tequila down in Old City. In that first night I learned the following things about him: BJ’s dad is British, he loves motorcycles, and he designed an award-winning iPad game that might help kids with autism.
Bid on him, and you’ll win the opportunity to learn about game design while taking a private circus class at the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts. HUZZAH!
Tell us a little bit about yourself!
I’m a “tech baller” living in the sexy city of brotherly love. I co-founded Cipher Prime, an award-winning indie game studio. I run PhillyDevNight which may just be the largest weekly tech MeetUp/group in Philly right now. I also co-run the Philly Unity3d Usergroup.
I recently did a two-month solo-tour of the U.S. from Philadelphia to Seattle via motorcycle camping all the way. I’ve been juggling for a good part of four years and have even learnt a card trick or two along the way. I have the unusual ability to smell fear and insight inspiration.
What part of Philly Give & Get are you most excited about?
Wait, who doesn’t like having a good time while helping a charity. Did I miss something here?
Why is giving back to the Philly arts & tech community important to you?
Pleaseeeee….I love Philly. I even have the LOVE logo tattooed into my wrist. The fact of the matter is that giving to Philly isn’t altruistic at all. Every time I give something to my local community it gives back and I’ll be damned if Philly’s going to keep one-upping me.
Why should attendees bid on YOUR Auction Lot versus all of the others?
I will wuv them soooo much! I have no problem talking about any aspect of sales and business while upside down on a Trapeze, that has to account for something…
What are you secret success strategies for winning the Most Valuable Philadelphian prize?
I plan on sabotaging everyone’s chances of winning by making them look SO INCREDIBLY AMAZING you can’t even imagine them being a realistic option.
