Real talk folks, the wait for The Walking Dead to return to our screens later this year for the series’ fourth season is unbearable. At least there’s an event happening this week that will give you a much-needed zombie fix. (Well, until the film version of World War Z hits theaters that is).
The Walking Dead Escape: Philadelphia is a fully immersive experience that is the closest you will get to experience a zombie apocalypse first hand. Awesome.
Here’s the deal, attendees to the event have their choice of participating either as a brain-eating walker or a survivor. They will then get to make their way through a “zombie infested evacuation zone,” an elaborate–and no doubt terrifying–obstacle course that will be built on site at the Wells Fargo Center for the event. Those who decide they would rather shun their humanity and become one of the living dead will be given a full makeover from the KNB EFX makeup wizards who create the creepy ghouls for The Walking Dead TV show. As for the humans, if they have the smarts and skills needed to stay alive, they could win $2500 in “The Survivor Showdown” challenge that will showcase the best of the day’s competitors.
Of course, if you’d rather just watch the event, “spectator” tickets are available that let you enjoy the end of the world without any of the nasty stuff. But really, where’s the fun in that?
I’ll be attending the event for Geekadelphia, so you can expect a full wrap-up coming soon. Until then, BRAAAAIIIIINNNNSSSS!
