You may all know our friends over at PhilaMOCA since they feature our favorite monthly chiptune menagerie of magnificence, 8 static. This month, you’ll get your dose of 8-bit to the ear, but throughout February different artists will be playing musical sets inspired by different movies followed by a showing of the film. You get to hear the audible interpretation of a film through the cables, circuits, and speakers of some fine musicians. After their set, you’re even treated to showing of the film.
Here’s what the good people at PhilaMOCA have set up for you throughout the month:
Bio: Dain is one of the genius masterminds behind the iOS game company Cipher Prime, where he and his friends create some of the most award winning music games for a range of mobile systems
Film: The Big Lebowski
Bio: Chipocrite is one of the brilliant people behind the monthly 8 Static and beautifully crafted the inaugural theme song for our Philly Geek Awards. In case you missed it, it was a masterful 8-bit version of the Game of Thrones Theme.
Artist: Cheap Dinosaurs
Film: Liquid Sky
Bio: Cheap Dinosaurs are another group of people behind the illustrious 8 Static and you can find any of their members spreading their knowledge of music and tech at the lesson before each show.
Artist: br1ght pr1mate
Film: Star Trek
Bio: br1ght pr1mate are an 8 Static alum and will be dazzling you with some upbeat and exhaustively catchy tunes with their signature style of over the top visuals.
