Win Tickets to See Monty Python’s Spamalot @ the Merriam Theatre

On Monday, we posted about the Tony Award winning musical, Monty Python’s SPAMALOT, returning to Philadelphia for two days. The show runs January 19th and 20th at the Merriam Theater, with three performances over the weekend.
Now, for that giveaway.
The folks at LiveNation were kind enough to give us a pair of tickets for two of the shows. You can win tickets for:
- Saturday, January 19th: 3pm
- Sunday, January 20th: 1pm
Want to enter? Just leave a comment about your favorite Monty Python sketch or film, and I’ll pick two of you at random on Sunday. Oh, and make sure you let me know what show you’d like to see in the comment. I’d hate for a winner to get a pair of tickets, and not be able to go.
For more information on the show at the Merriam Theater, and to pick up tickets, visit the Kimmel Center’s official website.

So much great material to choose from, but I’ll pick an old sketch from the Flying Circus “Army Protection Racket”. Nothing like a bunch of mobsters trying to shake down the army for protection money. “Suppose some of your tanks got broken…We can make sure that nothing happens to them for 15 bob a week…”. Monty Python was always great at taking an interaction between people (that would be understood by the audience in one way) and then mashing them together into new and humorous ways. I think this one is the most preposterous. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRm5WcjOikQ
Sunday would be great.
Who could possibly pick? It might be cliché, but I guess I’ll go with the old classic Dead Parrot sketch. It never ceases to make me laugh.
(If I’m lucky enough to win, either show would be fine)
For some reason Self Defense Against Fresh Fruit may be my favorite sketch.
Saturday!
I really just love the Ministry of Silly Walks. It’s possibly my favorite Python thing ever. Either that or The Penis Song. Either performance would be fine!!
So obvious but Dead Parrot!
This is Earnest scribbler. Manufacturer of Funny jokes….
Ministry of Silly walks
“Is your wife a goer? Does she like to go, eh? Know what I mean? Say no more! A wink’s as good as a nod to a blind bat! Wink wink, nudge nudge”
This is easy. Best of all the skits is Cheese Shop. I can’t shop in the Reading Terminal and pass by the cheese stores and not ask for a sample of Wensleydale.
Oh, and either show is fine with me.
Who can pick just one– The Fish Slapping Dance. Salad Days. Mosquito Hunter. Hungarian Phrase Book. Philosopher Soccer. Overacting Hospital. The Spanish Inquisition!
Saturday please?
the election results / hustings sketch with the candidates from the silly and slightly silly parties.
Sunday, please
I grew up watching Monty python with my dad and looking back, I probably had no idea what was going on at such a young age! Nevertheless, the funny voices and outrageous acts had me hooked.
definitely a silly one, but my favorite was the sketch where he goes to the store to buy an ant!
(I can make either show thank you!!)
It would have to be thr ministry of silly walks, or the black knight (tis but a flesh wound!) my son and I love acting those out all the time haha. I can make either show.
I think my favorite sketch has to be Killer Joke. There’s just something about it that “kills” me every time! (Excuse the pun!)
I could go to either show.
Saturday!
my favorite Monty Python scene is in The Holy Grail with the monks who are parading through the town, chanting in Latin, and hitting their heads. I once spent a good half hour trying to transcribe and translate the Latin. close second is the scene about whether or not ducks sink.
THIS PAROT HAS CEASED TO BE!!!!!
….Sunday plz!
My favorite Python sketch is probably the dead parrott sketch. Greatest comedy sketch of all time
PS: either show is fine
Favorite overall Monty Python sketch is easily the cheese shop. There’s no cheese!
Favorite line from The Holy Grail: “she’s got huuuuge…tracks of land.”

Either works for me!
Hands down my favorite Monty Python is Life of Brian. But you have to respect everything they’ve done.
My favorite sketch has to be The Spanish Inquisition, though it’s followed closely by The Lumberjack Song. If I win I’d like to attend the Sunday afternoon show. Thanks!
I watched Life of Brian like 15 times a month in college. Fishy fishy fishy fish. Ahhh, the good old days!
It has to be Holy Grail sketches for me. Spanish Inquistion is one of my favorites. Either shows work for me.
Did you pick your winners?
