8 Static: First Chiptune Party of the Year @ PhilaMOCA

It’s a brand new year and 8 Static knows how to kick it off right with the most epic night of chip-tunes you’ll hear. Well, at least until next month when they blow the doors off of the PhilaMOCA once again. This month’s lineup is going to be a great way to get your ears ringing in the new year.

First up is the vintage darkwave master Void Vision. She’s bringing along some special tracks just for this 8 Static show. Her vintage synthesizers and gear will have your ears ringing with nostalgia.

Crashfaster is no stranger to 8 Static, but this time is going to feature a little twist. In addition to the usual sounds and vocoder, a guitar, drummer, and female vocalist have made it into the mix. Their set is one you won’t want to miss.

Rounding out the musical bill is SSD Engage, who are going to treat your feet to some danceable tunes with the help of two Gameboys and a drum machine.

Doing the visuals for the show is someone that has, quite possibly, one of the best performing names ever. Party Time! Hexellent will be searing your eye holes with awesome visuals to go along with the musical notes burrowing into your ears.

As always, before the show will be a great workshop so you can learn how to make your own 8-bit music. This month is a little but different. Mutegi Corperation will be showing you how they represented the 8, 16, and 32-bit eras in their games “Dragon Fantasy” for the iOS. They’ll have some demo’s on hand along with their story of the game’s development.

If the show ends and you’re a bit thirsty for more tunes and a few drinks, you might want to check out the after party at The Institute Bar with DJ Mr. Smith. You really don’t want to miss the show this month. It looks like it is going to be awesome!
