Metalocalypse Season 4 DVD [Impressions]

I have been watching Adult Swim‘s show about the fictitious death metal band Dethklok Metalocalypse for 6 years now, and my only gripe with it has been the fact that it never really explained the mythology behind the show. You know that stuff that is constantly brought up at the beginning of every single episode where they chat about the “Prophecy” and whatnot.

Well it only took them 6 years because with season 4, which hit store shelves on October 30^th on DVD and Blu-ray, they finally started to not only answer some questions but also took the show back down to its original 11 minute running time as well.

These developments in the series make sense since given everything I have read basically says that season 5 will sadly be the last, but all good things must come to an end. In season 4 they still somehow managed to keep the misadventures coming, all while they started to feel repetitive and I wondered a couple of times if I was watching the wrong season. By the time the 2 part season finale hits it was a much needed breath of fresh air and a great note to end on.

The two disc DVD set that Adult Swim was nice enough to send me a copy is packed with not only all of season 4 completely uncensored but hours of extras as well. This is definitely a show I suggest purchasing for the uncensored aspect alone since it is usually heavily censored when it is showed both on Adult Swim and online.

This release is of course in anticipation for a new Dethalbum, which will be hitting shelves November 6^th.  So if you’re a fan of the show I highly suggest picking this up because they are finally starting to tie the series up in a very interesting way.
