Joel Hodgson: How to Have a Job Like Mine @ The Colonial Theater [Contest]

Friday, October 19th at 9:30 pm Mystery Science Theater 3000’s own Joel Hodgson will be at The Colonial Theater presenting a keynote address entitled “How to Have a Job Like Mine”. This will be an interesting night for fans of MST3K and give them a great look at the man who created the series and turned movie riffing into an art.

The keynote will encompass Joel’s lifelong endeavors to entertain people in new and inventive ways, and how those endeavors, along with a host of diverse influences, led to the invention of movie riffing. The keynote will feature photos, videos and documents from Joel’s personal collection illustrating some rarely seen projects and the creative process that helps brings them to fruition.

After the presentation a Q&A session will follow, and then Joel will close out the night with a secret screening of one of the 197 Mystery Science Theater 3000 episodes. Tickets are only $15 and can be purchased here, we also have 10 free passes for  10 lucky readers thanks to the great folks at The Colonial.

For a chance to win simply comment with your favorite episode of MST3K by Wednesday, October 17!

Tough Choice. Gonna have to go with Overdrawn at the Memory Bank. low-budget Canadian TV cyberpunk movie starring Raul Julia.

My favorites were always the instructional films for teens. Are You Ready for Marriage? or What to do on a Date.

Great event! I hope I win. But, even if I don’t 15 bucks is a small price to pay!

Awesome event! Thanks for the reminder about it! Also: Favorite Joel episode: Mitchell (He went out on a high note.) Favorite Mike episode: Werewolf

Pick me, pick me! I think *all* of the episodes are great (suck up!), but if I had to choose, I vote for Mitchell

I’ll admit that I do have a weird liking to the interesting and oddly engaging German version of “Hamlet”–of course, it was “translated” and dubbed back into English, but hilarious nonetheless.

Otherwise, honorable mention does go to “Overdrawn at the Memory Bank”. :-)
