BREAKING: Philadelphia Gets Foursquare Phanatic Badge, Go Get It!

Remember that time we got Philly a Foursquare badge? Yeah, that’s today.
After last month’s intense promotion for the #VisitUS contest, where five cities were chosen for their own unique tourism-focused badges, the folks at Foursquare contacted Geekadelphia with a proposition: could we help them design and curate a badge for Philadelphia?

Introducing the Phanatic badge, unlockable right now by checking in to any 5 places on this list, which features all the places from our original lists and then some. The badge copy had nods to Always Sunny and beloved spots like Dalessandros, with a throwback Liberty Bell to adorn your profile.

woo hoo!
This is awesome!! But… what was the point of the competition then?
Hi Joseph, thanks for the comment. A Foursquare representative explained it best in the NBC write-up: “When we organized our #visitus badge contest in January, we got some amazing entries from people in Philadelphia,” Erin Gleason of Foursquare tells NBC10. “We already had plans to make a Philly city badge soon, so when we chose the winners we decided show some love to a few of our other favorite lists from smaller cities. After we announced the…winners, we reached out to Geekadelphia, which had submitted some of the most popular…lists in the contest, to help develop the final list and badge.”
